National Gathering on Christian Initiation Hero Image

Join us for the 2026 National Gathering on Christian Initiation® on August 5–6 at the Loyola University Chicago Lakeshore Campus, located in the Rogers Park neighborhood.

At the National Gathering on Christian Initiation®, parish leaders and initiation ministers will strengthen their ministry through hands-on skill-building, honest conversations about shared challenges, and the exchange of proven approaches. In a dynamic mix of learning, dialogue, and prayer, participants will come to see more clearly that the vision of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is inseparable from the parish’s call to be a community of missionary disciples.

Registration for NGCI 2026 is now open! If you have any questions, please contact us at NGCI@ltp.org.

Theme

The Theme for 2026 is The Rituals of the OCIA: Prepare, Celebrate, Reflect.

Join us for a dynamic two-day conference exploring the transformative power of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). Together, we will dive into the ritual celebrations that form disciples and shape communities, with a focus on preparation, celebration, and reflection.

Why Attend?

This gathering is designed for initiation teams, clergy, liturgists, musicians, catechists, and anyone who desires to bring new life to the way their community celebrates the OCIA. Come be inspired, equipped, and renewed in your ministry.

We will explore how the intentional preparation of catechumens, candidates, ministers, and the assembly will lay a foundation for powerful liturgical experiences. We will look at what the Church calls ars celebrandi and consider thebeauty and meaning behind celebrating the rites with reverence, creativity, and style. Finally, we will mystagogically reflect on how these celebrations form us for mission and life in the world today.
